Called By Grace: Music
Called By Grace music ministry (Cathy Behrens) was approached by Deb Holt in 2001 to record the church hymns that accompany her book. This recording by Called By Grace, “Anointed: hymns of love and faith”, features the main vocalist, musician, and composer Cathy Behrens, her two daughters Jenny and Megan as background vocalists, and guest vocalist Fr. James Statz. Called By Grace also has a second album “Behold” of original Christian music.
Cathy Behrens is an established artist on the professional Christian music scene. Her bold lyrics, classy style, and emotion-provoking arrangements enthrall listeners of all ages. From age-old hymns to powerful originals, God’s gift will touch your soul.
Inspirational praise and worship is at the heart of Cathy’s music ministry, Called By Grace, and is a testimony to what the Lord has done in her life. After running from God for many years, she returned to His loving arms and is now sharing the beauty of song for His glory through her ministry. Join her in touching the heart of God.
The Lord has touched her life so much through the people she has met while touring around Minnesota. She has been involved with spirit-filled music for over 35 years, and continues to be led into new and exciting opportunities. Other than her two solo albums, Cathy has recorded two albums and toured with a choir near New Orleans, and recorded on The Gospel Song (a Bible-study program with music). She has participated in the music ministries of liturgies, Magnificat, parish prayer meetings, retreats, seminars, conferences, youth pilgrimages, youth concerts, solo concerts, and community choral groups. She also trains music groups in the art of praise and worship leading for their increased effectiveness in ministry.
Currently, Cathy is most involved with Magnificat® A Ministry to Catholic Women as the global Communications Team Special Projects person, worship team member for U.S. Region 2 (7 states: MN, ND, SD, IA, NE, WI, IL), and assisting in praise and worship for the Walker, Minnesota Chapter. She also leads a weekly hour of praise and worship at her church.
After raising and educating her children, many years of volunteering for the Church and Habitat for Humanity, Cathy went back to college and achieved a degree in Communication Art and Design. God has called Cathy into these ministries and she attributes all in her life to His grace. The name, Called By Grace, is taken from 1 Peter 5:10—”The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory through Christ (Jesus) will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little.” (NAB)
