The Inspiration for this Book
The pictures for this book were a response to an intense period of deep inner reflection, soul-searching, dreams, and most of all Deborah Holt’s prayer life and time in front of the Blessed Sacrament. She was inspired to begin the first picture in January of 1997. One picture led to another, and in August of 2000, Deb completed the 10th picture in a series encompassing the Most Holy Trinity and the seven Sacraments of the Church.
These chalk drawings are all symbolic in nature. Since finishing the 10th one, Deb realized her job was not yet complete. The drawings needed to be part of a book that would be entitled “The Seven Sacraments, and Life in the Trinity—A Love Story Between God and His People”, along with an accompanying CD “Anointed: hymns of love and faith” by Called By Grace. Each picture became a chapter that includes:
1—A song leading into the Trinity/Sacrament
2—Old and New Testament readings
3—Questions leading into the picture
4—The picture itself
5—A list of the symbols in the picture
6—Another song for the Sacrament
(For examples, see the Sample Pages)
The book will end with a reference to all the symbols used throughout the pictures and where they and/or their symbolism is referred to in Scripture. It will appeal to all ages and not only be a lesson book to learn about the Trinity and Sacraments, but to challenge and inspire all children of God to a deeper relationship with Him, Jesus, His Most Blessed Mother and the Church, letting the Holy Spirit be their guide. Deb believes these pictures can thus help build up the kingdom of God.
Deb’s drawings are about GOD’s message of LOVE to us, His beloved children. He wants to touch us, to take our hands and lead us … to heal us. He wants to fill us with total love. His heart is aflame with love for all.
This book is a Love Story between God and His People. The songs, especially the listening of them, the accompanying scripture verses, and the questions will all help to draw us into these pictures. They serve as a different tool for probing deeper into the meaning of the Trinity and the Sacraments—to help us DRAW NEAR TO GOD. As Saint Augustine said, “Our hearts are restless until they rest in God”.
So order a book and journey with Deb through the divinely inspired pictures of the Most Holy Trinity and the Seven Sacraments of Mother Church. They are the gifts of the Father to us, His beloved children. God’s love will unlock hearts and bring us to closer union with Him.
